Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC)
General Information
The Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC), an extension of a specific Associates in Science, Associate in Applied Science, or higher degree program, consists of at least nine, but less than 45, credits of college-level course work. Students who have already received an eligible degree and are seeking a specialized program of study to supplement their degree may seek an ATC.
Eastern Florida State College offers four Advanced Technical Certificates:
- Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Sonography
- Network Security Forensics
- Vascular Sonography
- Veterinary Practice Management
The Program and Admission Requirements chart lists specific admission requirements by program, such as if the program is limited access or requires a specific degree, certification or license, and if the program is financial aid eligible. The Program of Study page for each program will outline program-specific courses and other requirements.
ATC Admission Requirements
- Complete an online Application for Admission and pay the EFSC application fee.
- An additional application to the specific program may be required if it is limited access.
- Student must have earned at least an Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree from a regionally accredited college. Students without an A.S. or A.A.S. cannot be awarded an ATC.
- Have your official transcripts from high school and all regionally accredited postsecondary institutions sent to EFSC.
- Complete the Florida Residency for Tuition Purposes Declaration and submit with supporting documentation.
- Complete the online student orientation.

ATC Graduation Requirements
Responsibility for meeting the requirements for graduation with an advanced technical certificate (ATC) rest with the student. To be awarded the ATC from Eastern Florida State College a student must do the following:

- File an Intent to Graduate Application and pay the graduation fee by the published deadline.
- Hold an Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science degree from a regionally accredited college. Students without an A.S. or AAS cannot be awarded an ATC.
- Complete all admission requirements, including the submission of all transcripts, testing, and other required documents.
- Complete the required hours from the applicable catalog as established for the specific program in compliance with Florida State Statutes and Florida Administrative Code Rules.
- Complete 25 percent of the prescribed college-level credit hours through traditional coursework at EFSC per accreditation requirements.
- Complete all coursework with a final grade. Students with a grade of “I – Incomplete” will not be processed for graduation until a final grade is posted.
- For graduation in the term of application, the final grade must be posted within the first three weeks of the following term. If not, student must reapply and repay for graduation in the term they complete all requirements. Student may request through the instructor to have the “I” converted to a permanent "F" if the course is not required to graduate.
- Earn a cumulative degree grade point average of 2.0 or higher at EFSC, including transfer credits, in courses which comprise the ATC.
- College developmental courses, clock hour courses, audited courses, 3000-4999 (upper level) courses, and continuing education courses are not applicable toward credit hours for the ATC degree.
- Transfer courses with a grade of T% do not calculate into the GPA.
- Fulfill obligations to the College.
