U.S. Veterans and Eligible Dependents Applying for Veteran’s Education Benefits
Eastern Florida State College is fully accredited and approved for VA education benefits. Veterans and eligible dependents planning to use VA education benefits should contact the Military & Veterans Service Center at the earliest opportunity. The Military & Veterans Service Center has locations on the Cocoa Campus in the Ralph M. Williams Student Center, Building 11, Room 113; the Melbourne Campus in the Philip L. Nohrr Learning Resource Center, Building 2, Room 125; and the Palm Bay Campus in the Library/Science Building, Building 2, Room 159.
Applications and instructions for completing a VA education benefits package will be provided during the initial visit. New students must also submit an EFSC admission application and meet all admission requirements. Once admitted and registered for classes, students must contact the Military & Veterans Service Center to request certification for VA education benefits.
Students should provide a copy of their VA Education Benefits Statement or VA Certificate of Eligibility to the Military & Veterans Service Center. Each term thereafter, students are required to notify the Military & Veterans Service Center that they are registered and request certification. The Military & Veterans Service Center will not certify students automatically.
Veteran Chapter 31 and 33
Once a student has submitted a certification request to the EFSC Military & Veterans Service Center, and the appropriate VA eligibility or funding documentation has been received and determined to cover the student’s billing balance for the term, the student will be secured in their classes. EFSC will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, because of the individual’s inability to meet financial obligations to the institution due to delayed disbursement of funding from VA under Chapter 31 or Chapter 33.
Students are responsible for paying any tuition and fees that exceed their VA funding authorization by the due date and time listed in EFSC’s Important Dates and Deadlines.
