A critical survey of British literature from the Anglo-Saxon period through the 18th century, focusing specifically on the major works, authors, and characteristics of the literary movements of the Old English, Middle English, Renaissance, and Neoclassical periods.

This is a critical survey of the major works, literary movements, forms, and themes of British literature from the Romantic period to the present.
ENL 2330 Introduction to Shakespeare
Credit Hours: 3
Introduction to the life and works of William Shakespeare. This course explores Shakespeare's tragic, comedic, historical, and problem plays, prose, and poetry. Additional focus is placed on the relationship between Shakespeare's life and societal/historical factors important during the English Renaissance. An exploration of Shakespeare's work through various mediums, such as cinematic versions of the plays, staging of scenes from the plays, attending live plays, and readings, will be used in coordination with classroom lecture and discussion.
