RTVC - Radio, Television Lecture/Lab

This course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of audio production within the context of radio, television, and interactive media. Students will capture, edit, and mix sound for various media formats, including audio created by text-to-speech applications (AI voices and LLM Voices).

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and techniques used in studio-based media production. Students will gain experience in camera operation, audio mixing, lighting setups, and directing live studio productions. The course emphasizes teamwork, creative problem-solving, and technical skills necessary for producing high-quality studio content.

This course introduces students to the fundamental professional skills of video field production; including pre-production planning and post-production editing. Students will capture high-quality video and audio in various locations outside the studio environment.

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and techniques of writing for various digital media platforms, including websites, social media, podcasts, and video content. Students will explore the unique challenge for an online audience, focusing on how to craft clear, engaging, and purpose-driven content. The course covers topics such as audience analysis, writing styles for different digital formats, storytelling techniques, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), copyright considerations, artificial intelligence (AI) tools, and current writing career opportunities.

The course focuses on advanced techniques for non-linear video editing. Students work with raw video, stock media assets, and motion effects to grab and hold the audience's attention. The course covers essential techniques such as animation, color correction, titling, video effects, transitions, and compositing. Artificial intelligence (AI) video generation will also be explored. Prior experience with basic video editing is recommended.

This advanced course expands on the core studio-based media production techniques learned in Basic Studio Production. Focusing on advanced camera operation, audio mixing, dynamic lighting setups, and live production directing, students will master the skills necessary to create polished studio content. The course integrates green screen technology, allowing students to explore virtual backgrounds, and introduces AI tools to enhance workflows and interactive on-screen graphics.

This advanced course introduces students to Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven tools and techniques to enhance video production workflows. This includes leveraging AI for tasks such as automated shot selection, color correction, and audio enhancements. Through practical projects, students will learn to evaluate the role of AI in creative decision-making, discovering how these tools can support innovative storytelling while maintaining a professional standard.
