This course introduces students to the fundamental professional skills of video field production; including pre-production planning and post-production editing. Students will capture high-quality video and audio in various locations outside the studio environment.
RTVC 2100  Writing for Digital Media

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and techniques of writing for various digital media platforms, including websites, social media, podcasts, and video content. Students will explore the unique challenge for an online audience, focusing on how to craft clear, engaging, and purpose-driven content. The course covers topics such as audience analysis, writing styles for different digital formats, storytelling techniques, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), copyright considerations, artificial intelligence (AI) tools, and current writing career opportunities.
RTVC 2251  Advanced Video Editing

Prerequisites: RTVC 1240 and RTVC 1520 with a grade of “C” or higher

The course focuses on advanced techniques for non-linear video editing. Students work with raw video, stock media assets, and motion effects to grab and hold the audience's attention. The course covers essential techniques such as animation, color correction, titling, video effects, transitions, and compositing. Artificial intelligence (AI) video generation will also be explored. Prior experience with basic video editing is recommended.

This advanced course expands on the core studio-based media production techniques learned in Basic Studio Production. Focusing on advanced camera operation, audio mixing, dynamic lighting setups, and live production directing, students will master the skills necessary to create polished studio content. The course integrates green screen technology, allowing students to explore virtual backgrounds, and introduces AI tools to enhance workflows and interactive on-screen graphics.
